This shot holds, and possibly always will hold, a significance for me...

After driving through the night on my final journey home from uni, I arrived back into the area just as the sun was beginning to rise. I opted for the scenic route through a local country park which would offer the nearest available views of the surrounding countryside, and in my tired mind watching this peaceful sunrise burn off the faint morning mist seemed like a fitting metaphor for a new start in a familiar place..

This is just over 5 mins up the road from me, the view taking in a portion of the fairly flat Warwickshire countryside.

Anyway hope you like it.. I'm experimenting a bit on this one so comments/suggestions much welcomed.... especially re the transmission tower in the distance, should it stay or should it go?

=)

o: There is nothing that I love more then seeing art that carries such magnificence it takes your breath away and leaves you in awe. This piece is amazing, with the hot sun beating down and over powering the cool mist that cloaks the land in a hazy mystique. Rows upon rows of fauna watch as the tower stands like a beacon in the distance, gazing on as the sun leaves the horizon to meet the clouds and bring them life. Oh, so many stories and images come to mind with it, and not eve the harsh beats of my music could disrupt the initial calm the piece invoked. It lovely <33 So inspiring, so many thoughts.

Great shot! As for the tower, I think I would prefer it without it. Anyway, beautiful piece!:)

Yeah, I saw Phil wrote something else, it's all about personal preference really. After all, there is no right or wrong in this kind of work, in the end it's your call what you prefer youself:)

Sure this picture makes me stop for more than just a moment and realy enjoy a soft peach/apricot tone. I am not fan of square format, I wonder how this glorious coutryside looks in landscape format. Not as anything wrong with your choice.

glad you like it =) technically if we're being pedantic it isn't square (look at px dimensions hehe) but this shot only worked in this minimalist kinda way by cropping out foreground trees and some clouds... I have just posted one in portrait format and have another in landscape format to follow so you can take your pick!

The colour is amazing, and I love the slowly fading layers of silhouettes of hedgerows. As for the tower -- firstly, I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it, and secondly, I think it should stay -- the shot might be slightly neater without it, but it adds just a little bit of randomness to it, which jazzes up the skyline just that little bit more.

nice, just a half hour away! =)

any choice recommendations you'd like to share about the general area? I've been away in Scotland so long I've hardly ever scouted this area for shots...

The nicest 'local' place I can think of is where this pic was taken, the best 'nearly local' place I go to is the Malvern Hills, theres also similar views to this shot along the Tamworth road which runs right to my house

I like the tower in the distance, it shows the early morning mist even more, and adds that little bit extra I think. I think the sun could maybe be slightly less bright, and where are the clouds I seen in the unedited version the other night? They seemed to add a little more to the overall shot, the sky is just that tad simple, and empty now. Great capture though mate, the rays coming down throughout the flat land, and the trees look nice. :)

cheers for the detailed comment mate... in the end I played around with several different crops and decided to go this route of simplicity, cutting the clouds and foreground trees out ;)

might upload another one from that sunrise with a different take on it at some point..
