Beautiful shot! Love the light, and the way the shadows draw your eye further into the picture.

Good work mate!

I prefer that one, I'm a bit lost in the other picture, here the composition is more efficient (shadows takes more place and lead you more easily maybe) and the sun star really adds to the picture too. =)

thanks man, I'm still not totally happy with this one (see comments to Dan below), but if I was to 'use' one of them this'd probably be it :)

Yes, I understand. Woods are difficult to shoot, sometimes you can't have a picture without having something bad or disturbing in it.

thanks mate I agree about the sun, still not totally happy with this though, I think I would have liked a better spaced/balanced left of frame but if I moved right I lost the trees on the right and the bottom left of frame fell into a big block of shadow... not sure if either are really 'portfolio worthy'... stock maybe ;)

In my opinion this one has the better composition, I am just a little irritated by the enlightened knot on the right.

The sunstar looks perfect.

Greetings

thanks for your opinion :) what do you mean by the enlightened knot on the right?

My eye is just a little irritated by:

You see the two bigger trees on the right? In the middle of them there is a small knot that I would darken a little.

I'm still not quite sure what you mean, there's a thin branch catching the light and a little bit of grass or something on the ground also catching the light... one of those?

thanks for critiquing, I don't really think it's an issue personally :)

I thought that's what you meant, cool. It was there when I photographed it so I'll leave it in... woods are very random places as it is, I wouldn't know where to stop if I started trying to 'correct' them! ;)
